DD2018 Change of Plans

So, part way through the first week of my December Daily project I had a change of heart. For the past 2 years I had used the Traveler’s Notebook format for documenting the month of December and so I thought I’d switch it up and use the more traditional 6x8 pocket page album this year. But within the first few days of working this way I was feeling very restricted. Whatever pocket design I chose to use for that day’s story had implications for the next day.

I overthink things way too much as it is, so this began to drive me batty. I found myself trying to predict the next day’s story just so that I could choose the appropriate pockets for today! There are plenty of people who use pocket pages (Ali Edwards, and Sarah Zayas ) and do a lovely wonderful job of it, I just have control issues I guess. So even though I had started in a pocket page album, around Day 4 I switched gears.

Instead of the pocket page album, I reverted to using a vintage book (are you surprised?). My inspiration came from this photo in which I loved the idea of putting the binder clips at the top of the book (and if you are not following @beavalint you should be). And so a plan began to form in my mind of how to put together this new book to house my December Daily. I don’t have pics of the actual album because I haven’t figured out what to do on the cover yet, but as soon as I do, I will share!

Since I had already started a few pages, I simply had to rearrange them into this new format. Here are my opening pages. I just love all the layering that I can do now, and how there are pages that ‘peek through’. My heart is singing as I am now free to create fun and interactive pages!!

How is your December documentation going?
