December Daily 2018 Plans
I can hardly believe it, but 2018 marks the 11th year that I am doing the December Daily project!
This project is spearheaded by Ali Edwards and I started following her blog way back when she first introduced the idea of documenting December. Her premise was that there are so many exciting events and stories that occur in December that, as memory keepers, we should not just document Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the entire month. And so this project was born.
It is so rewarding to now look back over this collection of albums. Each tells the stories of that time and place, and each year there are stories that stay the same and those that differ. The biggest change that has happened in my albums over the past 10 years is the fading out of my girls from the albums as they grow up and are not as involved in the goings on of my December stories right now. But life is cyclical, so it will come around again and as I continue to document I look forward to them showing up once more when they begin building their families.
As you saw in my previous two posts, I documented last year using a Traveler’s Notebook format. But this year I decided to mix it up and use a 6x8 pocket page album again. I am also so very excited because I made my DD kit this year! Back a few months ago I was inspired to create my own kit by doing watercolour images and then digitizing them. It was a labour of love, but I am pleased with the final outcome and of course I cannot wait to start using the little bits I painted on my album pages.
Here is a peek at some of the pieces that I created for this year’s December Daily project… (Click on the image to scroll through the gallery images)
I chose a soft but non-traditional colour palette to use in my album this year. I love Christmas, but red and green are not my go to colours! You will not find red throughout my house at Christmas, but rose gold instead.
So, here’s to the start of December friends!
